Frédéric Delhingher, blacksmith & host
L'Arbre-Lune offers functional objects for everyday domestic use. These objects are designed and manufactured locally, with the aim of serving their users for a long time, being repairable and, in some cases, re-sharpenable. The aim here is to participate in the relocalization of the economy by offering objects adapted to people's needs, with the lowest possible environmental impact, far from any logic of over-consumption and programmed obsolescence."
The scene is set. In the hamlet of Pourrets, in Rosay, Frédéric Dehlinger has also turned his hand to forging. A place for creation and visits, now joined by a gîte and a chambre d'hôtes, where you can fully enjoy the experience offered by the man everyone calls Fred, while benefiting from the calm and serenity of the surroundings. Fred creates objects for everyday use (tools, household accessories, knives...) that are durable and repairable. He combines forging techniques with hot steel and woodworking. His objects are created using recycled materials, while at the same time offering healthy products with the smallest possible environmental footprint.
Manufacturing processes make maximum use of recycled steel and local woods. Energy consumption is kept to a minimum at every stage of manufacturing and sales. The aim is to offer sustainable alternatives to mass-market products and to promote local manufacturing and consumption.
With this in mind, Fred offers courses (from half a day to two days) to enable you to discover and practice the fundamentals of forging through the creation of an object for your use (decorative elements, hooks, supports, knives...). There will also be occasional visits to the forge and demonstrations of the work, as well as discussions on the trade and the role of these activities in meeting local needs.
